Warm Pear & Cardamom Oatmeal

Bliss Dish · Serves 2

Golden Morning in a Bowl

For warming digestion, steady energy, and a softer landing into autumn.

This isn't just oatmeal. It's a morning ritual. Creamy oats meet caramelized pear, warming cardamom and cinnamon, a swirl of ghee, and toasted pumpkin seeds — every spoonful feeds your body with warmth, sweetness, and steadiness.

In Ayurveda, warm, moist, slightly sweet foods pacify Vata as the air turns dry and cool. Pears bring gentle sweetness and hydration; cardamom kindles agni without overheating; ghee carries nourishment deep into the tissues.

Ayurvedic Soul Notes

  • Oats are warm, grounding, and slightly sweet — excellent for steady morning energy and pacifying Vata.

  • Pear cools excess heat while moistening dryness — a perfect autumn fruit when eaten warm and spiced.

  • Cardamom is the queen of spices for digestion — it kindles agni, clears heaviness, and lifts the mood.

  • Cinnamon warms and circulates — bringing comfort and blood-sugar steadiness.

  • Ghee is ojas-building — it lubricates, nourishes, and carries the spices' intelligence into the tissues.

  • Pumpkin seeds bring protein, zinc, and satisfying crunch for staying power.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 2¼ cups water or milk of choice

  • 1 ripe pear, diced

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp cardamom

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 tsp ghee or coconut oil

  • 2 Tbsp pumpkin seeds

  • Maple syrup, optional

Instructions

  1. Simmer: Combine oats, liquid, pear, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt in a saucepan. Simmer 8–10 minutes, stirring, until creamy.

  2. Enrich: Remove from heat and fold in the ghee or coconut oil.

  3. Finish: Top with pumpkin seeds. Add a little more warm liquid if you prefer a softer bowl, and maple syrup if you like.

  4. Serve mindfully: Eat warm, slowly, noticing how steadiness feels in your body.
